RU Chocolate

Meet The Founder: Rocio Urbina

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we're introducing you to some of Texas' incredible Latina entrepreneurs. Meet RU Chocolate!

Tell us about your business!

RU: We are a small batch bon bon chocolate shop. We offer 4,6, and 12 piece boxes, also specializing in special events such as weddings, bridal showers, birthdays, etc. My target customer is the chocolate lover, but I love to entice the chocolate hater and turn them into a chocolate lover. I want to inspire people to leave their comfort zone and try something new!

How did you decide to start your biz?

RU: I have been a pastry chef for over 17 years, I have always wanted to open something in my field but was never certain as to what. Chocolate has always been my favorite confection growing up, so when I finally decided I wanted a shop it only made sense to make it chocolate. So this year I decided to finally stop my fear and just dive right in!

Who inspires you?

RU: I wouldn’t say I have one singular person, it’s more of a whole. Seeing women start their own business and succeed, especially Latino women. It’s great to see that we have dreams that we need to accomplish as business women and leave our mark in this society, que si se puede!

What’s next for your business?

RU: Since I’m still in my crawling stage of my business, I want to see in 2022 a glimpse of a shop opening. Currently I’m doing everything out of my home for now until I can open my shop!
