In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, we're introducing you to some of Texas' incredible Latina entrepreneurs. Meet Luxo Design Workshop!
MM: Our small business sells stickers, keychains, shoe charms, prints, mugs and more. We sell our own designs wholesale as well as work with other companies/small businesses/non-profits to create custom merchandise products using their logo. Our target customers are people who enjoy seeing their Latin/Hispanic heritage and culture being celebrated and appreciated more in our society than ever before. Everything we make is handmade and designed by us and we’re so thankful to build our business around our culture. Helping other small businesses build their brand and product line helps us give back to others through our talents and marketing lessons we’ve learned along the way.
MM: Luxo Design Workshop™ began in our home right after I (Marisa) lost my corporate job due to Covid-19 that caused downsizing. My husband Alberto helped me while working a full-time job for the first six months of our business. Gratefully, we were both officially able to do the company full-time after almost a year in business! We now are able to offer wholesale and custom merchandise produced in-house by us. We love working with other small businesses and uplifting our community the best that we can. Being a Latinx-owned business, we try to help and show love to our own Hispanic community by uplifting their voices and working with them one-on-one. To us, everyone can have a seat at the table.
MM: My inspiration when it comes to our business are all the first-generation Latina women who graduate, get a college degree, build their own business and any other major career milestone all by themselves. I know we are all stronger together, but their strength and perseverance I truly admire.
MM: I would like to see us helping out our community in more ways. We truly want to bring a positive influence with our business and give back in the most proactive way we can. We are looking into starting a scholarship next year for young Latinas to help them go to college or start their own business, that way we have even more representation into the business community.
